About YOTA NZ

YOTA New Zealand’s social presence started on the 3rd of June 2019, when it became apparent there was a number of young hams in New Zealand who wanted to play ham radio but just didn’t know of any other hams their own age. According to the IARU, the definition of a ‘young ham’ is a person 26 years old and under. Using this definition, we have amassed more than 290 members who are supporting us in our venture as “youngsters” and our membership is growing weekly.

The core YOTA NZ management team consists of three Ex NZART councilors who saw what a lack of support the national body provides to the youth and their incompetent president Mark Gooding. Overall we have more than 10 people who help keep ham radio for our young members exciting and new. If you would like to come and join in go and join our FB groups!
